OUR SERVICES | EXPOXY FLOORING
Epoxy Flooring
Epoxy flooring is a durable solution for industrial applications that demand resistance to water, chemicals, and oils. Epoxy can be applied with a non-slip rating and is completely seamless, meaning it can meet all OH&S requirements.
Benefits
Benefits of
Epoxy Flooring
- Epoxy flooring is highly resistant to water, chemicals, and oils making it ideal for industrial applications.
- Textured surfaces can be applied for non-slip applications where safety is paramount.
- High compressive strength makes epoxy ideal for heavy traffic areas from people and machinery.
- Epoxy floors can last for years before replacement or refurbishment is required depending on use.
- Fast application means minimal site interruption or downtime.
- Epoxy floors are seamless and liquid-tight meaning they are easy to clean and very hygienic.

Our Installation Process
- The first step is preparing the substrate by cleaning the surface of imperfections and previous coatings with mechanical grinding.
- Then a primer coat is applied directly to the concrete substrate.
- Next, any holes, non-structural cracks, and surface deformities are filled to achieve a smooth and uniform substrate.
- Then a flood coat is applied to cover the floor, which will be the base coat for the rest of the epoxy floor system.
- Then a sand broadcast will be laid on top of the flood coat if a non-slip finish is required (e.g. in a commercial kitchen).
- The final step is applying a UV stable polyurethane topcoat to seamlessly seal the epoxy floor and trap in any non-slip finishes applied.

FAQs
Is epoxy flooring non-slip?
Gordon Flooring can achieve a non-slip finish on your epoxy flooring, depending on the installation
process used.
How long does epoxy flooring take to cure?
We recommend 24 hours before subjecting the floor to pedestrian traffic, 96 hours before vehicular traffic, and 5 to 7 days before allowing chemical contact or severe abrasion.
What’s the difference between epoxy and polyurethane floor coatings?
In general, epoxy is more rigid and has a higher compressive strength than polyurethane. But it can break down over time on its own, so Gordon Flooring uses a UV stable polyurethane topcoat to protect the surface.
Does the polyurethane topcoat go yellow in the sun?
No. Gordon Flooring uses only premium ultraviolet resistant products that do not yellow in sunlight.
Is concrete grinding a messy process?
No. Gordon Flooring uses state of the art machinery and equipment, including H class vacuums and air purifiers, to catch any airborne dust and ensure there is no mess on your site.
